An Act to amend the Pest Control Products Act (prohibition of use of chemical pesticides for non-essential purposes)

SUMMARY

The purpose of this enactment is to place a moratorium on the cosmetic use of chemical pesticides in the home and garden and on recreational facilities such as parks and golf courses, until scientific evidence showing that such use is safe has been presented to Parliament and concurred in by a parliamentary committee.

An Act to provide cost-of-production protection for the family farm

SUMMARY

The purpose of this enactment is to provide cost-of-production protection to family farms in cases where the weighted average input cost of products typically produced or suited to production in a farming zone exceeds the weighted average netback to farm gate of such products, averaged over three years.

Costs are to be calculated on the basis of marketable product and thus will take into account bad weather, pests and other crop loss factors.

An Act to amend the Criminal Code (failure to stop at scene of accident)

SUMMARY

This enactment amends the Criminal Code to provide that a person who has control of a vehicle, vessel or aircraft that is involved in an accident and who fails to stop at the scene of the accident is guilty of an offence for which the minimum punishment is seven years’ imprisonment and the maximum is life imprisonment, if another person suffers bodily harm and dies as a result of the accident.

An Act to amend the Canada Business Corporations Act (annual financial statements)

SUMMARY

This enactment requires the auditor’s report that is to be placed before the shareholders of a corporation in accordance with subsection 155(1) of the Canada Business Corporations Act to include information regarding any other professional services provided by the auditor to the corporation.
