My motion to eliminate trans-fats won support from all parties last November, now we must hold the government to this commitment.
I have been pressing the government to protect Canadians from dangerous asbestos-laden Zonolite insulation. This insulation was installed in hundreds of thousands of Canadian homes, housing on reserves and military buildings. The government subsidized the use of this hazardous material and now they must help clean up the deadly asbestos left behind.
I am fighting to protect workers from losing their pensions, benefits and backwages when their employer goes bankrupt. Presently, the banks, creditors and even the tax collector gets paid what they are owed before workers see a penny. This is wrong. My Private Members Bill C-281, the 'Workers First' Bill, will reform Canada's bankruptcy laws and put workers at the head of the line.
I have also presented a bill in the House to reform Canada's Access to Information laws, Bill C-201. My bill will extend your right to see how the government makes decisions and will ensure that crown corporations, organizations funded through your tax dollars, operate in the open.
Please browse through this site to see what I have been doing in Winnipeg Centre and in the House of Commons and give me feedback about what you want to see done.
My staff and I look forward to working with you.
