I am a fitness instructor specializing in yoga, pilates and postnatal fitness. I have a wonderful sphere of influence available to me with a topic such as this. I teach between 300-500 people per week who are interested in their health. I teach close to 100 postnatal women a week with young families who are extremely concerned about the health of their children and families. I have a captive audience. If you have any print material that you could make available to me I would be more than happy to distribute the material to my classes. I am most interested in something that I could give to my clients in the form of a letter that I could send on to their federal mpp or something that I could send to the FDA of Canada on their behalf. If you have any suggestions as to how I could further professionally proceed please let me know asap. I think this is an issue of crucial importance to our people. Thank you for taking it up in parliament and in the media. |

This ban on trans fats could not only save Canadian lives and suffering, but also could save our extremely stressed health care systems. It's appalling that people continue to be duped by manufacturers of these food products that contain trans fats. As a registered nutritional consultant who works with many people with cholesterol and other health problems, I try to educate people to understand the dangers of these trans fats in our foods. The Canadian government should step in and ban the substances or at least lower the allowable amounts in foods, much like Denmark's ban on trans fats. Please do not let Canadians down any longer. Not everyone is as informed
on these issues and the government needs to protect the unsuspecting consumer. |
