ID Name Organization City State/Province Comment
748 Michael Conlon Jamaica Plain Hello, I am a resident of the United States who is active in desire of having trans fat & GMO label standards on the food I buy. Trans fat removed from products would increase the standard of health and save lives. Thank you
746 Dayle Redekop St. Catharines ON
742 Donna Bain Brockville ON Right on - Its time to take a stand and look at longterm health care costs instead of convenience.
740 Grant Cullen Pickering ON
737 Edson Castilho Street Health Toronto ON
736 Natalie Villeneuve North Bay ON To deny us this is to deny us our right to live a happy and healthy life.
734 Don McKay Etobicoke ON I cannot believe we allow this stuff in our food.
732 Curtis Gergley Toronto ON Mr. Martin: I can't applaud your efforts enough on this issue. These need to be eliminated from our food supply. I truly wish that the Canadian Government would spend more money and dollars on issues like this compared to things like the Gun Registry. This bill will save exponentially more lives and improve quality of life much more than any gun control bill. Thank-You!
728 Doug Speers Summerland BC Keep up the good work. People are noticing in increasing amounts. It must feel good to be one of the forces behind the upcoming tidal wave.
727 Marie-Lynne Boudreau Hamilton ON
723 Mike Mazerolle Halifax NS
722 Colleen Klassen Saskatoon SK
721 Kimberly Ponzi ON
720 John Templar Scarborough ON I feel it is criminal that a substance fed to lab. rats to induce heart attacks for experimentation is allowed to be used in any product for human consumption.
719 Nektarios Staveris Montreal PQ I want them banned or clearly stated on the front on the packaging that this item contains trans fats.
716 Andrew Clarke Halifax NS Make this happen!
710 Chad Schofield Halifax NS
709 Ron Gaudet Halifax NS
704 Maureen Colford Toronto ON
700 David Santos Ottawa ON
699 Irwin Walker McMaster University, Faculty of Medicine (not their official opinion) Ancaster ON 1. The degree of danger posed by the presence of trans fatty acids is high. 2. Warning a food addicted population about trans fatty acids is like warning drug addicts about the dangers of drugs - ineffective. 3. There are so many foods with trans fatty acids, and the desirable recommended intake is so low, that it is impossible for many people to reduce their intake to below recommended limits. 4. Labeling implies choice, but many people who eat food are not the people who choose the food they eat, or don't have choice for other reasons e.g. children, people in jails, people who eat in restaurants, people who can't read official languages, people who can't understand, people who don't notice the issue, and so on. 5. If the FDA and Health Canada are serious about doing something about the dangers of trans fatty acids they will ban them. Labeling does not fulfill FDA and Health Canada's responsibilities to protect the public, it only makes it look like something is being done. Your truly, Irwin Walker
698 Apundeep Lamba Brampton ON
697 Lisa Hoffman Newmarket ON
695 Murray Bonn Kitchener ON I only learned about the dangers of transfats after experiencing some of the associated health problems last year. Since then I have avoided foods containing/cooked in transfats. (Unfortunately I had to invest a great deal of time learning about transfats just so that I could avoid eating them) When I visited my doctor three months later, she was amazed at how much my blood profile had improved in such a short time. While you're at it, how about a bill that calls for a health warning on fastfood packaging and advertising. Many of these foods have little to no nutritional value and are a major factor in the worsening state of health in this country. While the general public may know that many fast foods are not very healthy for them, I suspect, like the old me, they don't realize just how serious the consequences a regular diet of these foods can be. Do you want fries (clogged arteries) with that? Oh ya, here's an interesting fact I stumbled upon during my research into transfats. Maggots will not lay their eggs in margerine.
693 Lori Douglas rncp Bowmanville ON I andorse this petition because I know the health risks associated with trans fats and I am a stand to protect those who are unaware of the risks of eating such potentially harmful ingredients
