Thank God somebody cares.A little while ago a study was done at the university in Edmonton finding that it is a major cause of cancer. The food and drug association will not allow it to be published because treating cancer patients pays more than a gold mine would as the drug companies set their own prices for kemo and other cancer drugs I know I am taking kemo now. |

For years, I've been teaching about the dangers of trans fats (about 20 in fact). Numerous studies have proven its dangers. I believe that even from a cost of health care point of view, that banning trans fats will reduce health care costs in the long run by reducing so many associated diseases which are linked to trans fat consumption in our food supply.
Please ban these products, and send a message to food producers that it is no longer acceptable to use these fats just because it is more cost effective for them. |

I am a 49 year old woman, wife and mother of 3 adult children embarking in a career change to study Herbal Medicine and Natural Nutrition as I see a great need for these services in the near future due to the many health problems developing in Canadians as a result of the increased amount of poor quality (processed) foods currently being consumed. I fear mostly for the health, longevity and quality of life of my children and future grand children if the government doesn't step in soon and reduce (if not eliminate) the many harmful foods allowed to fill our grocery shelves. Taking steps to improve the health of Canadians by approving a bill to ban trans fats will be a great help to our already overburdened health care system. It is crucial that the government open their eyes and see “the big picture”. |

Frankly, if Denmark can eliminate trans fats then so can we! May people are very particular about the food products they purcase and do read the lables, myself included. But there seems to be an extraordinary number of people who have no idea what they are buying! Wish you lots of success with your bill and hope to hear of other proposals to help Canadians ameliorate their dietary habits.
Regards,
Anne |

after listening to a radio show talking about this problem i was outraged. I came on the net and the more i learned the worse everything looked to be. I don't believe much, don't care and I don't watch what i eat...I never believed that something that could be placed in a grocery store. It will make me very disappointed in the government and ministry of health if these laws don't get passed. With the studies we have done there shouldn't even be any over looking this topic. No reason why we can't eliminate this problem. |
