I choose life. "Shelf-life" is for the dead.
We now know that transfat is a poison: it has NO nutritive value. It is indigestible by any living thing. It directly causes cardiovascular disease, leading to premature sickness and death. It is a slow-acting, debilitating poison. Ban transfat NOW!
Please go at least as far as Denmark has gone. Please do NOT be swayed by foreigners who would profit from poisoning their neighbours. |

The federal and provincial govt/s should make certain that all foods containing trans fat be taxed at a high rate since people who consume this junk cost the health care countless dollars |

I recently discovered the dangers of trans fats and I am appalled that it has so thouroughly entered our food sources. I find this especillay despicable as most food geared towords children contains transfats. As I am the mother of two picky eaters, I thought that I was Offering them healthy snacks, only to discover that i might as well give them a pack of cigarettes to smoke as the food I was feeding them contained a product that is undigestable to humans! |

My husband, Marvyn Kirk, worked as Branch Manager, Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec, for Christie Brown & Co. (Nabisco) and died of a heart attack Jan 12, 1997 - It was not only the stress the company put him under, but unfortunately the unlimited amount of free product he was given liberty to.
The companyies comment, from Mr. "mac" McCallum - Human Resources - There is no doubt we caused your husbands death, but there is not a law firm in all of Ontario who would handle a law suit, if you try to sue - And, although there were three law firms, who did look over the particulars - (and I might add - at no charge) all three felt that this company was so cruel that they would most lickely drag me through the courts, bankrupt me and therefore win. These are not not people and I know from other products they put out there, for children - example ninja turtles and barbie cookies - loaded with dies - they will not do anything unless the government leans on them.
Am I bitter- yes - my husband was a very well loved and respected man - thiry years with the company - of which I was also involved with transfers, helping with entertaining and also with restaurant accommodations, for one particular conferrance for I.G.A. - Thirty years and because Marv was only fifty years of age - there was nothing the company had to offer me - no death benefits, no coverage - not even a fair market value offer of his car - I was left to fend for our three daughters and myself, after being a stay at home mom for twenty years. Very cruel, but as I mentioned I truly believed all lawyers - they would rather eliminate than do the right thing. There is so much more to my personal story and the ethics of this company - but I do feel, as did a particular family member, that consumption of the product played a huge part in a very premature death.
Thank-you for the opportunity to support your effort.
Sincerly
Georgia Kirk (&family;) |
